Swiss Made Watches

The “Swiss Made” watches designation is recognised worldwide for its precision, reliability and excellence. Many Swiss watchmakers preserve this unique expertise. To guarantee the origin and quality of these timepieces, the Swiss Made label is strictly regulated.

At least 60% of a watch's manufacturing costs, including those for its movement, must be incurred in Switzerland. Unprocessed raw materials are not included in this calculation. All technical development of the watch and its movement must also be carried out in Switzerland. For purely mechanical watches, this includes design and prototyping. For non-mechanical watches, the development of the circuit board, display and software must also take place in Switzerland.Whether it is a Swiss Made watch for men or for women, each model must meet these rigorous requirements.

The movement itself is also subject to strict criteria. It must be developed, assembled, and tested in Switzerland. At least half of the components used in the movement must be of Swiss origin.

The final assembly of the watch is also strictly regulated and must take place in Switzerland. This includes the casing process, where the movement is fitted into the case, and the final quality control.

Since 1 January 2017, the criteria for the Swiss Made label have become more stringent. These changes are part of the “Swissness” legislation, which aims to protect the Swiss name and Swiss cross on products and services more effectively, while strengthening the requirements for added value within the country. The goal is to preserve the credibility of the label and prevent its abuse. Consequently, the Swiss Made designation remains a trusted mark of genuine quality.
