When buying the smartwatch, I focused on three main features: technical integration, usability and design. Design In my opinion, this watch scores particularly well in this area, as I was looking for a smart dress watch, not a sports tracker. When unboxing, the packaging appears high-quality, even ostentatious, which is appropriate considering the purchase price. The watch is of absolutely high quality, the workmanship is top-notch - you definitely can't hold a candle to the competitors here. The matte black finish also looks great. When wearing it, the first thing I noticed was that the watch is rather thick. A few millimeters more than my old Gear S2 are noticeable here and even after a few days, despite the smaller diameter, it still looks a bit bulky, but not disproportionate to my wrist. The weight is also a bit higher than the Gear S 2, despite the ultra-light ceramic band. However, I no longer notice this in the meantime. Technical integration The technical features are largely identical to the top smartwatches. I liked the display from the start with its high-resolution, razor-sharp image. Compared to the Gear S 2, I have to admit that Android Wear offers a much wider range of apps and is more cleanly and fully integrated - even with my Samsung smartphone. Google functions in particular are not very well supported by Samsung on Tizen OS and can be used to their full extent with this watch, such as Google Assistant. The stated battery life can be maintained with moderate use, but a daily charge is unavoidable. Usability The setup is quick and uncomplicated, 10 minutes later I had designed my favorite watch face myself and put it on the watch. Using the menu and the app store is also easy, and the apps I wanted are installed in no time. The controls are intuitive and after a few minutes the operation works quite well. However, I like the operation of the Gear S 2 much better, as the Connected version does almost everything via the display and does not have any other buttons or input variants. I also notice that the gesture control on Samsung works much more precisely, which is a bit annoying, especially when using the power-saving display. Conclusion Android Wear is ahead of Tizen OS in terms of technology and Tagheuer leaves its competitors far behind in terms of quality and design. So if you want to combine a high-quality Swiss watch with smart technology, you're well served here, but the hefty price cannot be justified by the functionality; such a watch is and remains a luxury product.
