Epos is a little-known brand that deserves more visibility. The Timeless 3500 Skeleton is, for me, the most beautiful watch, even among those costing hundreds of thousands of francs. In photos, watches always look flat. But in the hand, a watch reveals its true dimension. This is particularly true of this one, whose fully visible, raised gears are fascinating. Besides its refined and successful design, the fact that it reveals all its mechanics makes it all the more interesting. Since a large part of the watch's structure is hollow, you see what's behind it like a window, which gives it an added charm. The Roman numerals, in a most elegant font, blend perfectly with the watch's retro-modern style. In photos, the edition numbers seem too prominent, but in reality, they are barely distinguishable up close; at a reasonable distance (approx. 30 cm), you don't even notice them. It's quite convenient to wind it while watching the mainspring tighten. At first, I had to wind the crown quite forcefully, but after two or three days, the winding became smoother. The seconds hand seems to move at 270 clicks per minute (or 4.5 clicks per second). Although it's water-resistant to 5 bar, I avoid getting it wet, but it's good to know I can wear it while swimming in a public place without risking water damage or loss. As an added bonus, this watch – with 100% Swiss-made components and assembly – allows you to tell the time in the darkest places and at the most challenging times, thanks to the phosphorescent bands on the hands. Once it's wound up a bit, it's not possible to stop the seconds hand (to set it to the precise time). In any case, it gains about ten seconds a day, which is inevitable for a mechanical watch, and perfectly acceptable. The strap—made of crocodile—takes some time to soften. At first, the case didn't even touch my wrist. Its drawbacks? Even trying to nitpick, I can't find any. I'd say it doesn't help at all to break free from material attachments!
