I have owned a Fenix 6 - 47mm Sapphire Solar for 2.5 years. I was very happy with the battery life, but the pixelated MiP display bothered me. The 8 model is the first in the Fenix series with an AMOLED display. I am very excited about the new AMOLED display. Although the display on the 47mm version is now also 1.4", I opted for the Fenix 8 - 51mm because of the longer battery life (29 days). The AMOLED display is awesome and with 29 days (without the display permanently on) it's awesome. The GPS also seems to be more accurate than the Fenix 6. The buttons with haptic feedback feel good and are even freely programmable. The software is also new, and has been revised in many places with the Fenix 8. The new notification system in particular puts the old one in the shade. The software still has a few errors. Many were fixed with the update to version 11.89 (11.10.2024). What is my conclusion? The new Fenix 8 is a loyal companion for me, offers a long battery life, the display and software have been heavily revised. Only the price is a big hurdle at CHF 1199 for the Sapphire version, which not everyone is willing to overcome.
